Speaker not working? Try this

  • Check that your device volume isn't muted or turned down low.
  • Check your left/right audio balance setting in your operating system's sound settings.
  • Disconnect any Bluetooth speakers or headphones that might be capturing the audio output.
  • Unplug wired headphones - some devices keep routing sound there even after you unplug.
  • Restart your device to clear out any stuck audio driver state.
  • Gently clean the speaker grille - dust and debris can muffle or block sound.
  • Try this test in another browser or on another device to rule out a page or app issue.

How to Test Headphones

Three easy steps. This headphone test takes about a minute. Keep volume medium.

1. Connect the headphones you want to test

Plug in wired headphones, or connect Bluetooth headphones / earphones. For this headphone test you WANT the sound in the cups, not the phone speaker. Set volume to a medium level before you tap Play.

2. Start the headphone tester

Tap Play. Use the Left pad to test the left cup and the Right pad to test the right cup. A good headphone test sounds clear in that side. Silence, crackle, or a very weak side means there is a problem.

3. Check stereo, then try a song

Use Stereo / both to hear both sides together. Then play a song you know. If you wanted to test the device speaker instead, unplug headphones and open the phone speaker test.
